Course Reflection « Thread Started on Dec 6, 2008, 2:56pm »
I’m nearing the final 100 lessons of A Course in Miracles - nearly a years work and coincidently falling within the most difficult year of my life. It’s time for a brief reflection. The Course has not erased a single trouble from my life - nor is it supposed to. The Course has shifted my perception on how to look at trouble and problems. And this is the purpose of miracles. The Course has also provided the tools to use for this purpose on a continual basis and this is what makes it a true practice to achieving peace. Many of you may know that I have started the Course several times in a 10 year period. There was failure only preparation for the time of completion. And that is the goal of a lifetime - if not many. So I’m looking forward to this continuation, this path of illusions leading to the realization of Heaven. I’ve caught a glimpse of the far end, my feet still tread careful, and I offer forgiveness (myself and those who only appear other) with every step.

The nature of a gift often defies its wrapping. Consider our daily exchanges and random meetings that occur with others - a smile, an act of kindness and courtesy all go along way in bringing light to our lives. We appreciate the wrapping of these gifts and offer our light in return. Now consider the rude and inconsiderate driver, the person who is in to much a hurry to hold a door for others, and countless other acts that seem no where near a gift. And yet they are and quite possibly the dearest gift that could be offered. Under this “wrapping” lies an opportunity to forgive and practice patience, to be kind when the ego screams to strike out in return, to return to the garden of a peaceful state of mind. Imagine how once trained to practice this peaceful state of mind on the “little” things we will respond to the ,much larger events that life always has in store. And indeed it a practice and these ill-wrapped gifts are our training tools. Practice kindly and with patience - and give a gift wrapped lightly in return.
